Small farm, big community

Why we're building Community Egg Partners
There was a time when communities knew the people who produced their food. Today, food often travels long distances and changes hands several times before it reaches the dinner table.
At Hops, Stock & Barrel, we're trying to rebuild that connection. Our focus is building a sustainable farm that serves our community, rather than simply maximising production. We produce food the way we want to feed our own family — that means fewer hens on greener grass.
We believe good food should travel fewer kilometres, through fewer hands.
Why community organisations?
Community organisations already bring people together — trusted volunteers, strong local relationships, regular meeting places. We think they're the perfect place for local food. Rather than opening another retail outlet, we'd rather work alongside organisations already serving their communities.
How Community Egg Partners works
1. Members order
2. We pack every order
3. Weekly delivery
4. Members collect
5. Your collection point or chosen charity receives a contribution
We're keeping this deliberately simple. From day one: automatic online ordering, secure online payment, recurring orders available, weekly collection, we attend every collection, and feedback is always welcomed.

Direct to people. Good food. A reasonable price. Real community benefit.
$1 of every dozen sold through Community Egg Partners is donated straight back to your organisation or your chosen charity. There's no cost to join, no lock-in contract, and no admin burden on your committee — we handle ordering, payment and delivery, and provide simple remittance details each month so your treasurer can see exactly what's been contributed.

Why it works for your committee
There's no cost to your club, no lock-in contract, and nothing extra for your committee to administer. We provide simple, treasurer-friendly remittance details each month so it's easy to reconcile.
Growing the weekly order: one member's bulk order counts toward your organisation's total just the same as everyone else's — so a canteen, kiosk or bar ordering a few extra dozen for raffles or BBQs helps grow the collective contribution.
What we take care of: food safety and liability sit with our farm under a documented food safety plan, so your organisation carries none of that risk. We handle all the logistics — packing, transport and delivery — and we'll arrange delivery day around your committee's calendar.
Why members will love it
At just $8/dozen, Community Egg Partners pricing sits right alongside standard supermarket free-range eggs — but with a very different farm behind it. Meet your farmer: Lachlan runs a small, mobile pasture system where hens are moved regularly onto fresh grass.
The typical Australian free-range legal maximum is 10,000 hens per hectare — one hen per square metre. Our mobile pasture system runs at roughly 165 hens per hectare, around 60 times more space per bird.
How we compare per dozen: Barn-laid $6.00–$7.50. Free-range $7.00–$9.00. Community Egg Partners $8.00. Pasture-raised $10.00–$13.00+.
Approx. major supermarket shelf prices, current as at 19 August 2026, per dozen.

Meet Lachlan
Lachlan runs Hops, Stock & Barrel on a small property in regional Victoria, moving the flock across pasture year-round. He's on every delivery, and happy to answer questions about how the eggs are produced — no call centre, no head office.
